| Internet Explorer is the king of browsers - it can't be put any other way. Steady improvements put this browser in the "keep" bin.
In the recent upgrade to 5.5, there are seven key features:
- It now gives you the ability to search the Internet by category or customize your searches even more.
- It allows you to organize your favorites by usefulness (including by site, site most visited and date).
- An improved favorites menu includes favorites in offline viewing, so you don't have to be connected to access them.
- It gives you the option of saving a Web site to hard-disk for even more helpful offline browsing.
- A new feature using Intellisense, called autocomplete, makes typing in Web page addresses much easier by remembering the keystrokes for previously entered Web pages and displaying those Web pages while you type.
- It allows you to use multiple connections, so you can switch between two phone lines, or if you have two Internet Service Providers, delegate which ISP you would like to connect to each time.
- It contains MSN messenger service to show when your friends are connected to the Internet, and with Microsoft Netmeeting installed, you can add video/audio to your conversations.
If we could go off the charts on this one, we would; it's definitely earned its five-cow rating. If browsing could be any simpler, I'd bet that the browser would bear the Microsoft brand name.
Enjoy!
